Battle Of The Brands: Skyline vs. Goldstar!
TRANSCRIPT:
Hi guys, it’s Rebeca with BrandTrue. And today I want to talk about a brand that I stumbled upon in an airport recently. It’s called Cookie Plug, and I think we need to pull the plug on this brand. No, I wish them well, but I have a lot of issues with this name. So Cookie Plugs are, as far as I can tell, big puck-like cookies. They’re sort of plug-like, all right. Also, I’m always commenting about how, “well so and so isn’t the target of a name.” I’ve learned that I’m not the target of this name because apparently there’s some sort of slang thing going on where your Cookie Plug would be your like connection, like dealer for cookies. So that makes it a cute, fun name. And just the joke went over my head.
But the thing is, I do think that “plug” doesn’t sound very appetizing, and the way they’ve shaped the cookies to pay off the name, it’s a lot of cookie. I’d rather eat a bunch of thin, crispy, wonderful cookies than one big, thick hockey puck. Do you know what I’m saying? Do you feel this? In addition, perhaps their greatest crime, I usually focus only on names. I don’t talk too much about the interplay with logos just because that’s not my lane, so much. But I can’t help but say that their logo has a plug, like a two-pronged outlet plug in it. That’s confusing. That’s horrible. So is it… Like, there’s nothing edible and appetizing and delicious about this name, and it’s just not working for me. Let me know what you think, but *thumbs down* from me. Bye!
