Sometimes we think a name sucks, and then sometimes the word “suck” isn’t strong enough for how we’re feeling. This name really bugs the crap out of Rebeca.

TRANSCRIPT:
Hey guys, today I want to talk about a company called The Blind Factory, and we’re going to do a “Does this name suck?” on it. And I have a pretty strong opinion, but I don’t know if it’s, like, entirely rational. So I would love to hear what you guys think.
Let me set up the analysis for you using the T-R-U-E, TRUE, framework. So the first thing, is it a Transparent communication of what’s being offered or does it connect in some way? Well, they make blinds and they’re called The Blind Factory. So we’re going to give them a yes on the T.
Then for R, is it giving you, like, the Real feels? Is there some kind of, like, authentic connection, authentic emotion? Hmm, no, I don’t think so. Okay, U, is it Unique? No. Lots of businesses that make blinds have blind in the name. “Factory” isn’t enough to mix it up for me, to make it seem unique. Out of there!
And then finally, the E, is it Engaging? I don’t think so, except, you know, engaging can sometimes be negative. It doesn’t only have to be charming. If there’s something about it that makes it memorable, it can be still engaging, even if you don’t like it. For me, there’s a huge negative with this name, which is the fact that it’s not “The Blinds Factory,” it’s “The Blind Factory.” I think that that’s really not okay. The lack of sight with, like, a factory sounds terrifying. Bugs the crap outta me, don’t like it. And I don’t think, as negative as it is, that it’s one of those, like, negatives that makes you remember it. It’s just bad, I think. What do you think? Let me know. Bye!
