Oh goodness, it was too much fun to make our latest #tellthetruths video. Rebeca really leaned into ripping apart the name of this fast casual dining chain. These are not words that go well with food! Check it out to see a vicious takedown!

TRANSCRIPT:
Hey guys, we’re going to do another, Does This Name Suck? You love ’em, we love ’em, especially when the name sucks. And this one does! What is it? It’s the Rusty Bucket restaurant chain. So I just think that rust and food don’t go well together, and I don’t think that buckets and food go well together. But we’ll run it through our trusty, true T R U E analysis.
So the first letter T, is it a Transparent communication of what’s being offered or just connecting transparently with something? I fail to see it. It’s going to be a no on that. Now, I will say that it’s like a casual restaurant chain, with, they say it’s “tavern food with attitude,” something like that. Kind of has a sports bar vibe. I guess the bucket is referring to beers? I guess I could give them like a little bit of it, on the T for that reason. But no, I don’t want my beer out of a bucket, so no.
Okay. Second, R, is it like giving you the Real feels? Is there some kind of emotion that it’s connecting to authentically? No. Rusty and bucket and beer and sports and food? No. Okay. I’m flogging this dead Rusty Bucket horse. U, is it Unique? Yes. They get a yes on that. E. Is it Engaging? Not really. I think it’s a real turn off. The E for engaging, can be negative sometimes if that drives memorability.
So kind of like, you know, previously on the R, I can give them a little bit of a point on this in the sense that it’s very visual. You can see a rusty bucket in your mind. They put it in their logo, God help them. I, I don’t understand that. So it helps it be memorable, but… eeew, why? Why would you want to be remembered for that? So, no, it’s still a no. No, no, no! This name sucks!
If you like their food, that’s nice, that’s not what I want to talk about. If, for some reason, you want to defend that name, bring it, because I’m going to be very hard to convince that that name doesn’t SUCK. That’s what I think. What do you think? Let me know. Bye!
