Does This Name Suck? Clean Eatz
Check out our latest #TellTheTruths video and see whether you agree. Sure, Rebeca loves eating clean, but when people think of “clean eating,” they’re not exactly picturing indulgence. A name that skips appetite appeal altogether leaves a bad taste in our mouths. What do you think—does Clean Eatz whet your appetite, or leave you craving something more delicious?

TRANSCRIPT:
Hi guys, it’s Rebeca with BrandTrue and today I want to do a, “Does This Name Suck?” around a food brand, a restaurant brand, called, “Clean Eatz,” and that’s, “Eatz,” with a Z. So this name… it sucks, for me, and the reason why is because… I’ve talked before about the need to thread the needle with food brands that are around healthier alternatives and I just think that eating clean is all about giving things up, there’s not deliciousness in eating clean. Conceptually, it’s all about sacrifice, so to say, “Clean Eatz,” and then put a Z on it, it’s, I guess, trying to maybe make it a little bit friendlier, but I don’t think it succeeds, I think it lacks appetite appeal, I think it sounds dry and juiceless. Now, the brand appears to be doing well, it’s sort of like a cafe-style concept, and in Ohio alone there are about 11 of them, I think it’s really growing, because people are looking to eat in a more healthy way, but I think that the name is not doing them any favors. It doesn’t appeal, to me, as much as I like to eat in that way. I’m curious to see what you guys think. Let me know. Thanks. Bye!
