TRANSCRIPT:
Hey guys, it’s Rebeca Arbona with BrandTrue, and Mako Arbona Goodman from BrandTrue, and we are here to talk about Oatly versus Sproud. They’re both alternative milks. Yes, it’s a Battle Of The Brands! And so they’re both great products. I’m going to disclose my personal preference. I think that Sproud milk tastes a lot better than Oatly. Just me. But focusing on the brand names, let’s analyze and see which one wins this battle.
Starting with transparent communication… Oatly wins. Oatly is made from oats, and therefore, their name discloses transparently what they are a little bit more than Sproud. I don’t blame Sproud for not saying that they’re made from peas because it just doesn’t sound very appetizing. But the word Sproud doesn’t tell me anything about what they are. So it’s not great there. Okay, so R, the really reals, some kind of link to their authentic story or some kind of emotion. I think Oatly gives you a little bit of that, a little nuance of it, and Sproud gives you nothing in that respect. Unique… They’re both unique. Engaging… Oatly is engaging. Sproud is not. I think it’s a really lousy word. It’s the three consonants in a row, it’s hard to say, it’s hard to read, and I struggled with remembering it even though I was introduced to it through a taste and was like, “This is wonderful! I want to get it again!” I had to search to get it again. I couldn’t remember it, so… mmmmm.
Now, I will say that they both do a really nice job with having very bold and different and unique marketing, but Oatly’s is significantly better. Oatly’s makes more sense to me and it looks more engaging. And all in all, I think that Oatly is the big winner in this Battle Of The Brands. So let me know what you think. I would love to hear from you. Thanks. Bye!
