When it comes to snagging a table, not all reservation apps are created equal. Some names whet your appetite, some are just meh, and others leave a bad taste.
Battle of the Brands: For Your Dinner 🍽
🥇 OpenTable – A name as solid as a confirmed reservation.
😐 Resy – Decent, but not exactly a five-star choice.
🤢 Tock – Hard pass. It sucks!
Watch this #tellthetruths video as Rebeca serves up her take on all three. And if you notice her calling Resy “Rez” in the video… consider it a special of the day—luckily, the subtitles and logos get it right! Which name has you hungry for more? Let us know in the comments!

TRANSCRIPT:
Hey guys, it’s Rebeca with BrandTrue with a three-way Battle of the Brands. This is a battle for your dinner. I’m going to talk to you about the names of three restaurant reservation sites. So we’ve got Resy, we’ve got Tock, and we’ve got OpenTable.
Between my personal life and my business life, I make a lot of reservations and I probably use OpenTable 9 times out of 10. I mean, it’s significantly bigger. And guess what? The name is significantly better. Because when you’re using a reservation software, it’s to find an OPEN TABLE at that restaurant. So it’s just really transparent communication. It’s really relevant, it’s really salient. Check, check, check, just great. Good name. I also suspect they’re the first player, but maybe not. They’re the biggest player by far.
Okay, so then there’s Resy, which I have only come across once or twice, and Tock. So Resy, I guess at least has going for it, that it’s, you know, reservation. But I think as much as brevity is powerful with names, there has to be a little more meaning. Resy leaves me flat. It’s mediocre.
Tock. That one sucks. It’s just, you know, stamp it. It’s just terrible. Because there’s no transparency, there’s no relevance to the category. I don’t get it. Interestingly, both Resy and Tock have both been purchased recently by Amex, and what I think about that is that you can’t use either one of those names, call me. That’s what I think. Thanks. Bye!
