We’re launching a new feature about the mail we love to hate. You know the ones because we’ve talked about them before. It’s the email equivalent of a door-to-door salesman, and just as annoying!

TRANSCRIPT:
Hey guys, it’s Rebeca Arbona with BrandTrue, and today, this is a new feature that I’ve decided to start called “Hate Mail”. And what I mean is not mail that we get that’s hate directed toward us, but rather the mail that I hate getting it, and I know you hate getting it too because we’ve talked about it before.
It’s all that unsolicited stuff trying to sell us things. And I think we all hate it because it’s… it’s insincere and we know it. So what I think is interesting, they’ve been morphing their approaches in certain ways lately, and one of them is that they’re kind of leaning into the fact that we know they’re bots, and it’s horrible.
So I got this one recently from, I won’t use her last name, from Alison C. She says, “Hi Just kidding. Hey, Rebeca, I am a real human, unless this is all just a simulation of course, but then we’re both in the same boat.” Okay. Thanks, Alison, for the chatty thing. Okay, then she says, “I however am reaching out personally,” I’m so touched, thank you! “Personally, because BrandTrue is a perfect fit for our expertise,” says Alison. She goes on to explain exactly what they do, and it’s not at all a perfect for our expertise, so yeah. And then, blah, blah, blah, “do you want hear more? Oh, let’s set something up.” Get out of my face! It’s just annoying. She signs it, “Best, Taylor D.” So she’s a real human personally reaching out, but the email address and the signature line are not the same name, so no. Hate this!
Can we talk about this? Do you have any really bad examples like this? Please share in the comments. I love to hate this. That’s it, that’s it. Thank you. Bye!
