TRANSCRIPT:
– Hey guys, it’s Rebeca with BrandTrue and I want to talk about brand alliances. It’s a really time-tested kind of strategy for brands to align themselves with other brands. And sometimes we see brands that it’s a big part of their strategy, like Target has relied on alliances with designers to really elevate them against their competitors, they’ve done it forever. Now they’re doing it with retailers, they have a partnership with Apple, they have a partnership with Ulta, really interesting how they do that.
But no, what I want to talk about today is these like crazy butt alliances that we’re seeing lately, it’s sort of a trend, it also makes a lot of sense, because it gets you a lot of attention, a lot of press. And so there’s really wonderful, bizarre things like Adidas, doing Limited Edition, Arizona Iced Tea SNEAKERS. What!?!? Or, I love this one, Oreo doing a limited edition with Lady Gaga to promote her album, “Chromatica”, so it’s brightly colored. Like mind blowing. What am I forgetting?
– Coca-Cola. Oh, that’s my favorite. Is there another one? I want to end on that one. Okay, Coca-Cola and Morphe Cosmetics, how does that make sense? They’re going back to their famous 1970’s, “I want to teach the world to sing” ad, with a limited edition palette. It’s crazy, it’s stupid, but why not? Life’s too short to take everything seriously. I love this strategy. What do you think? Let me know. Thanks. Bye!
